What are cache files?

How do I clear my cache?
Windows Netscape Navigator 4.0
Go to the Edit menu and select Preferences. Click the Advanced category and then select Cache. Click on the Clear Memory Cache and Clear Disk Cache.
Windows Internet Explorer 4.0
Go into the View menu to Internet Options. Click on the Advanced tab, then Settings, then Empty Folder and OK.
Windows Internet Explorer 5.0
Go into the Tools Menu and select Internet Options. Click on the Delete Files under the Temporary Internet Files Section.
Macintosh Netscape Navigator 4.0
Go to the Edit menu and select Preferences. Click the Advanced, and then Cache, and then Clear Disk Cache.
Macintosh Internet Explorer 4.0
Go into the Edit menu and select Preferences. On the Web Browser section of the box, click on Advanced, and then on the Empty now button in the Cache section.
Macintosh Internet Explorer 4.5
Go into the Tools Menu and select Internet Options. Click on the Delete Files under the Temporary Internet Files Section.
